Mission

The mission of UNITBV is the production and transfer of knowledge to the society by means of initial training at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, advanced scientific research, development, innovation and technological transfer. In addition, the mission of UNITBV envisages the organization of postgraduate programmes and enhancing the interaction between the University and the society through partnerships in compliance with the principles of a knowledge-based society.

History

 

1948 - Establishment of the Institute of Silviculture.

1949 - Establishment of the Institute of Mechanics.

1956 -  The Institute of Silviculture changes into the Forestry Institute       (1953) and fuses with the Institute of Mechanics. The Polytechnic Institute of Brașov is founded.

1960 -  Establishment of the Pedagogic Institute (covering Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry, Biology and, starting with 1969, Music).

1971 - The University of Brasov is established as a result of the fusion of the Polytechnic Institute with the Pedagogic Institute.

1991 – The University of Brasov becomes Transilvania University of Brașov.
