About University

In its more than 3 decades of existence, the Ovidius University of Constanta has become one of the most important vectors that make a major contribution to the development of the city and the region. It is the only academic institution in the world that bears the name of the Latin poet Ovidius Publius Naso and, at the same time, an example of metamorphoses, because in the 32 years since its establishment, through the various moments that defined us an institution, we have become a landmark in terms of academic education, we have kept our dynamism and anchoring in the values of the community we belong to.

Institute of Doctoral Studies (IOSUD)

The Ovidius University of Constanta is an institution organizing doctoral university studies, hereinafter referred to as the UOC. The fields in which the UOC organizes the public hearing of the habilitation thesis are: Biology, Philology, History, Civil Engineering and installations, Mathematics, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Theology.

The qualification represents the certification of a person's quality to conduct doctoral theses. The habilitation thesis reveals the candidate's didactic and research capacities and performances.

The qualification certificate is granted by order of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, upon the proposal of the National Council for Attestation of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates (CNATDCU) within the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research (MECS).

Persons who hold the scientific title of doctor and who meet the minimum standards identical to the standards for granting the title of university professor, respectively of CS I, established by CNATDCU and approved by order of the minister, can submit the qualification thesis.
