About University:

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova, through its faculties and specializations of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies, is an academic institution in which the educational component is predominant, but in which scientific research must gain in size and substance, with a clear perspective balancing the two elements in the medium term.

At the same time, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova must become the pivot of medical assistance, both in terms of methodology and practical specialized activities, in the historical region of Oltenia. 

We want active information, awareness, and increasing active involvement of the academic body, students, and the administrative apparatus of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova in the implementation of national strategies for the development of higher education, in achieving the objectives of the Bologna Declaration, adopted in 1999, including Romania, and the declarations of subsequent high-level European educational meetings (Prague - 2001, Berlin - 2003, Bergen - 2005, Lisbon).

One of the important activities that UMF Craiova proposes for the future consists in the development, diversification, and support of all forms of post-baccalaureate training (residence, master’s, doctorate, improvement courses to update knowledge, courses to obtain skills, etc.), including computerized distance education (e-learning), as well as—ensuring training conditions through residency in as many of the recognized specialties as possible.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova has four faculties in its structure:

1.   Faculty of Medicine

2.   Faculty of Dental Medicine

3.   Pharmaceutical University

4.   Faculty of Medical Assistance

 

Student Life

Accommodation in the student dormitories of UMF Craiova:

·         The student dormitories are renovated and sanitized annually, so that all places have good conditions for accommodation, students and residents benefit from spaces with new furniture, new bed linen, non-stop hot water, vertical blinds, thermal insulation, PVC windows with double glazing, televisions and refrigerators. In Dormitory no. 2 there are reading rooms and 4 offices where kitchens equipped with new furniture and electric stoves are arranged.

The rent is between 350 lei and 650 lei, depending on the financial status of the students (budget, tax) and the dormitory where they are staying (Dormitory No. 1 has 91 rooms with 2 students in the room, Dormitory No. 2 has 144 rooms with 3 students in the room. Dormitory no. 3 has 90 rooms, of which 28 are studios, with 2 beds in the room).

Automatic washing machines were installed on several floors for the personal use of the students, keeping the unit's laundry (for the Canteen and linens) in operation. He increased the security level on the university campus by refurbishing the access hall, installing video surveillance cameras, and controlling access to the campus through a barrier and electric gate system.

All rooms are connected to the INTERNET and are equipped with cable TV.

 

UMFCV Restaurant/Canteen

The Canteen Restaurant has two dining rooms with a serving capacity of 150 seats and a bar that serves the students and teaching staff of the UMF. It is equipped with a self-service line with diversified menus and at prices subsidized by the Ministry of National Education.

The operating hours are from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm

 

Facilities for recreation

In the student campus, in the basement of the canteen restaurant, a space for serving coffee has been set up for students and is available to them for organizing parties, without disturbing public order or the other colleagues in the dormitory.

In the main building in Petru Rare’s Street, no. 2, there is a modern space set up for serving meals by students of preclinical subjects.

Behind the restaurant canteen, a sports base was set up, including a field tennis and volleyball court equipped with a night installation an artificial surface, and a bituminous court for mini-football and basketball.

In Building B on campus there is an aerobics gym, where female students have access on a subscription basis.

The students of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova address their health problems to the Craiova Student Medical Dispensary, where eight general doctors, four family planning doctors and two dental doctors work. The mentioned dispensary serves the students of both Craiova universities, the University of Craiova and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Craiova.

University campus

The university campus located in Bvd. May 1 no. 66-68, Craiova, postal code 200638, includes 2 student dormitories with 850 places to stay, a dormitory for resident doctors with a capacity of 180 places, a tennis court, Canteen-Restaurant, with a serving capacity of 100 of seats and with menus at prices subsidized by the Ministry of National Education.

In the immediate vicinity is the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing, Body B with teaching and research spaces, the Gastroenterology Research and Treatment Center based on imaging methods and molecular studies (TARGET), and the Craiova County Emergency Clinical Hospital.
