Work While Studying in Finland

If you’re from India, you will need a work permit if you want to combine studying with working in Finland.

Duration of work permit

Your work permit will be valid for as long as you have a valid student visa.

Max. hours of work per week

25 hours/week

You will be allowed to work 25 hours per week. You can work full-time during school breaks. Your work hours are not restricted if your work is related to the degree you are studying.

 

Staying in Finland after Completing the Studies

Study and Settle in Finland

After completing the studies, non-EU/EEA students may remain in Finland if he/she can be granted a new residence permit on other grounds. The permit may be granted, for example for: 1) postgraduate studies (the same field of study) 2) employment 3) based on family ties. A foreign student who has graduated from the Finnish University can be issued a temporary residence permit so that he/she can look for work. A new temporary residence permit can be issued once for a graduate for one year after the previous residence permit has ended.
